Hometown:  Gradišće, Bosnia

Major:  Software Development

Anticipated Graduation:  May 2018

Because of CWI:  “I already have a job even before graduating.”

After moving with his family from Gradišće, Bosnia, in 2000, Ajdin’s interest in computers began. A love for building and problem solving made the Software Development program at ĢƵ (CWI) a perfect fit. He chose the program, not only for its affordability, but because it would allow him to gain a more in-depth knowledge of programming languages and learn from great instructors, like Patrick Hawke.

“Patrick taught me how to try different avenues when testing and troubleshooting a new technology,” he said. “Some of my most memorable moments in school were times when a program or website I had built wasn’t quite working, even after working on it for hours. The moments when I finally figured out what was wrong were indescribable!”

In addition to school, Ajdin worked as an intern at the College for the Communications and Marketing Department’s web team. The experience improved his knowledge about JavaScript and the content management system, Drupal. Additionally, he experienced how an organization operates and works together.

Ajdin says one of the biggest challenges he has had to overcome during his academic journey is time management.

“With work, school, my family, and managing a business, finding time to do it all has been difficult,” he said. “The Software Development program has really given me a better understanding of how to manage my time more efficiently and how to better allocate my resources.”

After graduation, Ajdin plans to continue working for CWI full-time and looks forward to having more time to spend with his family.
