Admission into the Registered Nursing program at Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵÍø (CWI) is competitive and requires a supplemental application process as outlined below.
Applicants to the Registered Nursing program must be 18 years of age, have a clean background, and may be subject to vaccination requirements as outlined below.
Admission into the Registered Nursing program is contingent upon the successful completion of a background check, conducted by the College's designated vendor.
A second background check is required between the first and second years of study.
Students in the Registered Nursing program are required to undergo drug and alcohol testing as a condition of enrollment, for reasonable cause, and at random times throughout the program. A positive test result, refusal to test, or tampering with a specimen will result in dismissal from the program, with limited options for readmission. These requirements help ensure a safe, professional learning and clinical environment free from impairment.
Students are responsible for the cost of initial testing. Any further testing is covered by the program through Special Course Fees.
While vaccinations are not required to enroll at CWI or join the Registered Nursing program, some of our partner healthcare organizations may require them for clinical rotations or externships, which are necessary to complete the program. Efforts will be made to secure a placement for each student; however, a site that does not require vaccinations cannot be guaranteed, which may delay or prevent completion of the program and may limit employment opportunities after graduation. CWI maintains an exemption process for medical conditions, disabilities, or religious beliefs, which are currently accepted by a number of partner organizations for the purposes of student placement.
While not required to apply to the Registered Nursing program, completion of general education classes with a C or higher will increase your ranking points on your application. Meet with your advisor to discuss options specific to your situation.
