CWI Launches New Social Work Degree

Published: August 12, 2020

ĢƵ (CWI) is excited to announce the addition of a Social Work degree, beginning fall of 2020. Designed to prepare students to successfully transfer to a four-year institution and beyond, the Social Work degree at CWI provides a pathway to a rewarding career dedicated to supporting people within our community.

“If you are passionate about social justice and want to make a difference in the community,” said Jana McCurdy, Department Chair of Social Sciences, “an associate degree in Social Work is a great option. You will gain critical knowledge and skills to be an effective advocate and will be prepared as you continue with your education to earn a bachelor’s or a master’s degree.”

Social workers are employed in a variety of fields including healthcare, social services for underrepresented populations, government organization, advocacy work, child and family services, nonprofit support services, and more. According to EMSI data, social work jobs in Idaho are projected to see a 13.4% increase in growth between 2018 and 2028 with median compensation being more than $50,000 a year.
