CWI to Conduct Emergency Alert Test [1]
Ä¢¹½ÊÓƵÍø (CWI) will conduct its annual test of the CWI Alerts emergency notification system on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at approximately 12:15 p.m. The test helps ensure the College can quickly notify students, employees, and the extended CWI community in the event of an emergency.
Federal regulations require all colleges receiving U.S. Department of Education funding to maintain a reliable alert system capable of reaching students, faculty, and staff during hazardous situations. At CWI, this requirement is met through CWI Alerts, powered by Rave Alert System.
When you register as a student or join CWI as an employee, your phone number and CWI email address are automatically added to the emergency alert database. In an actual emergency, a short message would be sent with essential information and instructions, followed by updates as the situation develops. When a threat is no longer imminent, the College will issue a final all-clear notification.
During the Nov. 25 test, you can expect the following messages:
-
Text Message: “TEST – CWI ALERT – THIS IS A TEST”
-
Email Message: “TEST – TEST – TEST – CWI ALERT – THIS IS A TEST of the CWI-Alerts emergency messaging system”
This test is being announced in advance to ensure the campus community is aware and to minimize concern when notifications are received. No response is required.
Students and employees may verify or update their contact information by visiting the CWI Alerts page [2]. CWI partners and friends may also sign up to receive CWI Alerts. The service is free, though standard text messaging rates may apply.
CWI Alerts are used only for critical situations such as severe weather, snow closures, utility failures, power/network outages, violent incidents, and other circumstances that may impact or affect the safety of people on campus.
